The newest name in women's soccer, Hope Solo, will be in the spotlight again, but this time, on the dance floor, not in the goal.

That's right, Hope is going to be one of the contestants on "Dancing With The Stars," at least, we think. The new cast list leaked on USA Today and it looks like this:

nancy grace, kristin cavalleri, riki lake, chynna phillips, hope solis, elizabetta canalis. david arquette,rob kardashian,ryan oneal, Jr. martinez, chaz bono, ron artes

With all the other typos, it's safe to say they meant Hope Solo. And she'll be joined by fellow athlete, Ron Artest, the soon to be Metta World Peace.

Athletes tend to do well, Hines Ward won last season and Chad Ochocinco placed fourth.

Hope Solo will appear on the next season of Dancing With The Stars, and it was announced that Maksim Chmerkovskiy will be her partner. Chmerkovskiy previously teamed up with Erin Andrews.

Apparently Chmerkovskiy watched Hope's footwork on the soccer field and thought it would translate well to the dance floor, and chose the goalie as his partner.

And Hope is excited, and has a liking for Chmerkovskiy. She told USA Today:

"He is fiery," says Solo. "I like a little bit of attitude. Someone who can push back."

This was the last week before football once again takes over the American sports landscape.

So who entered NFL-mania flying high?

Hope Solo locked up a gig on Dancing With The Stars. Football stars Michael Vick and Chris Johnson got their money. And LeBron James is slowly but surely winning us back with his awesome tweets.

Unfortunately, some of out favorites — including Maria Sharapova and Phil Mickelson — weren't as lucky.

WINNER: LeBron James

LeBron has quietly had a great PR summer in general.

But this week was a particularly strong one. He tweeted pictures of his son "Bron-Bron" going to his first day of 1st grade.

WINNER: Hope Solo

Usually women's soccer players fade into obscurity once the Women's World Cup ends.

But Solo ensured a few more moments in the spotlight, booking a spot on Dancing With The Stars.

WINNER: Michael Vick

Michael Vick's contract is not 6 years, $100 million. It's more like 5 years, $80 million.

But still, that's a boatload of money for a guy who was sitting in the clink a few years ago.

The U.S women’s soccer team is in Kansas City training for a friendly against Canada –much to the delight

Sapong has been crushing on goalkeeper Hope Solo ever since her spectacular World Cup performance. And he wrote her something resembling a poem/rap hybrid to prove it. 

Awkward and uncomfortable initially – and a mid-performance restart later – Sapong thrilled on-lookers by rhyming words like “Solo” with “soul glow.”

The admiration clearly impressed a blushing Solo. She awarded Sapong with a hug and kiss that took out his knees faster than an oncoming slide tackle.

In it, she practices pitching, rides around in a car, and has awkward encounters with two grinning Royals players.

Hope Solo had her first night on Dancing With The Stars and she and her partner did pretty well! They scored a 21 out of 30, one of the best of the night.

But the judges were a little critical of Solo's style, saying she needed to be a bit more feminine.

Judge Bruno Tonioli said:

“You look like you’re punching me in the face."

Hope Solo struggled on "Dancing With The Stars," last night when she and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy performed a jive.

Even though hope was wearing a rendition of her soccer uniform... she didn't look comfortable on stage.

The judges criticized Hope Solo for being off of the music and messing up a bit, and Hope responded: "I was trying to hit a soccer ball." The judges also said Solo was strong, but a little rigid.

Hope Solo's father left her family when she was very young. He was homeless, and lived a challenging life.

And in January of 2001, he was a "person of interest" in the murder of a realtor Mike Emert who was stabbed to death, according to King5.com. 

Hope's father, Jeffrey Solo, was homeless at the time of the murder, and he fought back on the accusations:

"I've been in the street for five years. I've been mean. But I did not kill this guy. I didn't even know who he was," he said.

Hope and her father reconnected when Hope when to the University of Washington, and became close.

When Jeffrey Solo died four years ago, Hope made it her mission to clear his name. And now, although the Mike Emert murder is still an open case, sheriffs say Jeffrey Solo is cleared as a suspect.

Hope says she can let go of pent up anger because she knows her dad is now free.

Solo tweeted she was posing, even though the ESPN staff was trying to keep the models secret (oops). In Solo's defense, she didn't know her modeling was a secret until after the tweet.

We all love seeing the finished product of the ESPN Body Issue, but a lot more goes into it than we think.

The athletes, who are not used to posing nude, are first of all, pretty nervous.

They come in, strip down, get made up, and flex for the camera.

ESPN.com put up a series of videos of Chris Blake, Apolo Ohno, Gretchen Bleiler, and Steven Jackson baring it all for the issue.

U.S. soccer star Hope Solo shed her sweatpants and cleats to go on Dancing With The Stars this season, and she had a pretty good run.

But last night, Hope's journey came to an end when she was voted off just before the show's final week.

Hope flaunted her stuff throughout the season, in some extremely over-sexualized dances and costumes.

We know ballroom dance often includes skimpy outfits. But we think the choreography for Hope could have been toned down since she is a role model for young girls across the world.

Week one Hope wore this pretty white dress

It was completely backless, and exposed her sides and stomach too

Week two got a little more risque. Hope wore these tight black pants, a very small top, and opened her dance shaking her butt to the audience while Maks pointed to it.

Bing has released their list of the top searches of 2011 so far. Tennis player Maria Sharapova tops the list as the most search athlete of the year. She is followed by Tiger Woods, who topped the list in 2010.

In addition to Sharapova, three other female athletes crack the top ten, including Serena Williams (#3), Caroline Wozniacki (#5), and Hope Solo (#9). Interestingly, there were no females in the top ten a year ago.

In addition to Tiger, other athletes that are among the most searched for the second consecutive year are Brett Favre (#4 in 2011, #5 in 2010), Kobe Bryant (#6 in 2011, #6 in 2010), and LeBron James (#7 in 2011, #2 in 2010).

Soccer goalie Hope Solo tested positive for Canrenone, a substance prohibited under both the USADA Protocol for Olympic and Paralympic Movement Testing and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), according to the USADA.

Solo has accepted a "public warning" for the failed test, but says it is in a medication prescribed to her by her doctor:

"I took a medication prescribed by my personal doctor for pre-menstrual purposes that I did not know contained a diuretic. Once informed of this fact, I immediately cooperated with USADA and shared with them everything they needed to properly conclude that I made an honest mistake, and that the medication did not enhance my performance in any way,” said Hope Solo. “As someone who believes in clean sport, I am glad to have worked with USADA to resolve this matter and I look forward to representing my country at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.”
